James Spencer was honored by Cocktail Nation Sydney, Australia for his 2017 album Exotica: The Cocktail Piano Hour Volume II which is the first solo piano album ever of Exotica, with new arrangements of Les Baxter's Quiet Village and rare exotic piano works by Leopold Godowsky, Isaac Albeniz and Cyril Scott.  The album won BEST COCKTAIL LOUNGE ALBUM OF THE YEAR! James Spencer is an internationally acclaimed concert pianist, baritone, recording artist, artist developer/coach and musicologist-author. With over thirty years private coaching and university teaching experience, he is the founder of Spencer Music and Artist Development currently located in Belmont Shore, California. 

James coaches students ages 12 and older of all levels privately and in small group classes in the following: piano, digital keyboards, harpsichord, voice, voiceover, acting, dialects, speech pathology, violin, viola, mandolin, music theory-ear training, music composition-songwriting, musicology, music therapy, music industry, dee-jaying and breathwork. Skype lessons are now available in voice, acting/voiceover, theory, and composition/songwriting. 

Artist development, artist web design, recording studio services in affiliation with Adamos Recordings, Westminster, CA, accompanist and agent services are also available. Artist Development is available for: singers, actors, musicians, artists, dancers, fashion designers and models by portfolio submission and successful audition. 

As a recording artist, James has released both classical and jazz solo piano digital albums that are currently available for purchase through iTunes, Cdbaby, Amazon and this website. His Piano Classics series offers some of the most requested and beloved classical piano masterpieces presented in IST digital sound. IST (infratonic sound therapy) add undetectable sounds waves that promote deep relaxation, memory enhancement, deeper sleep and body-mind-emotional balance. Mr. Spencer's classical albums have been featured on classical streaming stations and radio broadcasts through the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. 

James has extensive industry experience in New Romantics, Gothic Wave, Acid Jazz and Smooth Jazz R and B collaborating with such artist Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, Shawn Tubbs (Carrie Underwood's guitarist), as well as with bands including: In Common Hours, 13th Hour, and Bulitt.

Mr. Spencer's The Cocktail Piano Hour albums are currently receiving airplay on several jazz radio shows including: The Cocktail Nation with Koop Kooper and  Evenings At The Penthouse. Current jazz albums available for sale include: Blue Gardenia, Nightfall, Blue,and Exotica.

As an author, Mr. Spencer's books are currently available through Amazon.com. James wrote the first biography on cool jazz torch song stylist, actress and television personality Julie London entitled: Lady Liberty: The Definitive Julie London Handbook. James also penned the only biography about composer and Capitol Records' artist, Les Baxter.  James penned two successful vegan books: Vegandisiac and The Vintage Vegan. Look for James' new book Jewels of Jazz: The Undiscovered Vocal Gems of the 1950s-1960s and The Cocktail Piano Companion due out in 2018.
